Dutch Amateur Radio Station
Information concerning the various band and wavelengths:

160 meter band 1810-1850 kHz. During the day local contacts are possible, due to earth-waves, to approximately 50 kilometers over land and over water even greater distances arepossible. This band can be used throughout the year. At night contact distances are possible up to approximately 800 kilometers. In the summer consideration must be given to serious atmospheric interference.
80 meter band 3.50 – 3.80 MHz. European stations can always be heard. In the evening the signals are the strongest: the reception area includes all of Western-Europe. Radio amateurs in the Netherlands and surrounding countries can be heard. At night the contact distances are variable but in the Winter several thousand kilometers can be bridged.
40 meter band 7.10 – 7.10 MHz. Voice communication from 7.04 MHz, mainly European stations can be heard. The data is the same as for the 80 meter band but the maximum contact distances are usually greater. 30 meter band 10.10 – 10.15 MHZ. Only Morse. This is a good band for long distance comminication during the day (DX).Less suitable for short distances. During the night it is reasonable suitable for long distance traffic (DX) during certain times of the year. 20 meter band 14.00 – 14.35 MHz. Voice communication from 14.10 MHz, DX around 14,20 MHz, in the evening stations over the whole world can be received. This is a band for DX traffic.
17 meter band 18.068 – 18.168 MHz. A good band for long distance DX traffic.
15 meter band 21.00 – 21.450 MHZ. Voice communication from 21.100 MHz. Radio amateurs from all parts of the world can be heard on this band. This band can be used best during the late evening hours. Ionospheric conditions can strongly influence reception. This band is mainly used for DX traffic. The characteristics lay somewhere between the 17 meter band and the 12 meter band. This band is often “open” when the 10 meter band is “closed”.
12 meter band 24.89 – 24.99 MHZ. During the day this band, depending on ionospheric conditions, is excellent for long distance DX traffic. At night this band is only suitable for local earth-wave contacts.
10 meter band 28.000 – 29.700 MHz. Voice communication from 28.200 MHz and for DX around 28.500 MHz. This band is only suitable during certain periods and then usually only during the day. Conditions have a strong influence here, even greater than on the 15 meter band. There is a lot of DX traffic during periods when the conditions are good. During the day this band is often better than the 20 meter band, but it is very dependent on ionospheric conditions. Earth-wave contacts are often very poor.At night it is only suitable for local earth-wave contacts.
6 meter band 50.00 -52.00 MHz. This band can be used by radio amateurs in the Netherlands since 1988.For 2 meter use I have a Tonna 9 element horizontal polarized yagi antenna (see www.f9ft.com), and vertical a Diamond V2000 (see http://www.diamond-ant.jp/ama2/eng_ama_2_2_5.asp).For 70 centimeter use I have a 19 element Tonna antennahorizontal polarized (see www.f9ft.com), and vertical again the Diamond V2000 (see http://www.diamond-ant.jp/ama2/eng_ama__2_2_5,asp).
